Octave OnSite Spool Design

Octave OnSite Spool Design is the updated, rebranded evolution of Intergraph Spoolgen. While the core functionality and performance remain consistent, OnSite Spool Design reflects Octave's transition into an independent spin-off brand. Complete with refreshed naming, design and positioning. This change allows Octave to focus on delivering a more unified product experience and future-ready innovation, without altering the reliability you expect from the original Intergraph Spoolgen.

OnSite Spool Design is a specialized software for creating fabrication-ready piping spool drawings from digital piping data produced by 3D plant and piping design systems. It helps convert design information into the detailed documentation required for fabrication and construction.

OnSite Spool Design takes digital piping data, defines fabrication-ready spool breaks, making pipe spools, which are prefabricated section of piping that can be transported to site, and automatically produces spool and erection drawings, material take-offs, weld information and other fabrication documentation. The original piping layout is protected from unauthorized design modifications. Users can, however, add or modify fabrication-related information such as welds and spool breaks and check spool size against a container size.

It is designed for organizations involved in piping fabrication and construction, including EPC companies, independent piping fabricators and construction contractors. It requires little user training and no CAD expertise.

OnSite Spool Design imports piping design data from PCF or the older IDF files generated by 3D plant and piping design systems. A PCF, or Piping Component File, is a digital representation of piping components and their associated data. OnSite Spool Design can import piping data from Forte 3D, Forte 3DWorx and other plant or piping design systems capable of exporting IDF or PCF data. The key requirement is that the design system can export the required piping information in IDF or PCF format.

OnSite Spool Design can create a variety of spool drawings and erection/construction isometrics, including dimensions, weld locations, assembly information and material information, using Forte Isogen which is embedded, as well as any reports required.

OnSite Spool Design maintains revision information and can visually compare versions of piping data to identify changes. Previously recorded spooling modifications can also be replayed against a revised pipeline where the relevant component identifiers remain consistent.

OnSite Spool Design sits between piping design and downstream fabrication/construction processes. It takes digital piping information from design systems, applies fabrication and spooling requirements, generates the required drawings and reports and can pass information into procurement, materials management and fabrication systems. It can be standalone or link to other Octave solutions, such as OnSite Production.
