Aspect Pipe Stress is used across a wide range of industries where piping systems are critical to operations. The solution is commonly used in oil and gas, nuclear, petrochemical, power, pharmaceutical and food and beverage operations. It is also widely applied in water treatment, mining and renewable energy projects.

Aspect Pipe Stress performs static analysis for multiple conditions including buried piping and subsea piping (including wind/wave loadings). Specific piping codes for these types of pipelines are included, as are piping codes and materials covering fiberglass piping. In addition to static analysis, Aspect Pipe Stress also has dynamic analysis capability for modal, response spectrum, harmonic and time history analysis.

In addition to the main piping analysis, Aspect Pipe Stress also includes auxiliary modules for equipment nozzle analysis according to various standards (API-610, API-617, NEMA-SM23, API-661, HEI, API-650) and flange analysis (ASME and EN 1591). Local stress analysis according to WRC 107/297 and pipeline remaining strength calculations according to B31G are also available.

All versions of Aspect Pipe Stress are developed and maintained under a Quality Assurance Program to comply with the applicable ASME NQA-1 standard, along with 10 CFR Part 21 (U.S. NRC reporting) and U.S. 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B (Q.A. reporting). Additionally, the Engineering Analysis team that develops and maintains the Aspect Pipe Stress product is conformant with Octave’s division-certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Bi-directionality exists through integrations between Aspect Pipe Stress and Aspect Pressure Vessel for analysis, and Forte 3DWorx and Forte 3D for design. Both enable the transfer of design data, eliminating rework during project phases.

Pipelines, along with their analysis of data and conditions, can be exported from design solutions to Aspect Pipe Stress and vice versa. This speeds up modeling time per pipeline while allowing both the analyst and designer to consider possible design changes or improvements within the context of the original model. The ability to import a PCF file also allows for a pipeline to be imported into Aspect Pipe Stress from many different 3rd party design tools
