HUNTSVILLE, Ala., (March 20, 2026) - The Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) successfully deployed Octave OnCall Dispatch to strengthen emergency response capabilities for one of Saskatchewan’s most comprehensive all-hazards public safety agencies.
The department serves more than 308,000 residents and responds to over 25,000 calls for service annually. The new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system from Octave, the potential software spinoff from Hexagon AB, introduces advanced tools that streamline communication, accelerate response times and support more informed decision-making during emergencies and major events.
With Canada’s federal mandate to transition emergency services to Next-Generation 911 (NG911) by 2027, OnCall Dispatch positions SFD to keep pace with evolving public safety standards and helps ensure it is well-positioned for the future. The new CAD system works in tandem with NG911 by transforming caller information into real-time operational insight.
“We are proud to support the Saskatoon Fire Department as it strengthens its public safety operations,” said Tammy Heaton, vice president and general manager of public safety, North America, at Octave. “With Octave OnCall Dispatch, our focus is on delivering technology that agencies can rely on when every second matters — enabling faster, more coordinated responses while building the trust first responders and communities depend on. We value our partnership with Saskatoon and look forward to supporting their teams as they continue to advance public safety for the community they serve.”
