HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – Octave*, the planned software spin-off from Hexagon AB, today announced it has been recognized as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide AI-Enabled Asset-Intensive Enterprise Asset Management Applications 2025–2026 Vendor Assessment (#US52977525, December 2025).
The IDC MarketScape evaluated vendors serving organizations with complex, asset-intensive environments and assessed their ability to support evolving requirements across maintenance, reliability, mobility, configurability and AI-enabled workflows. According to the report, Octave was recognized following “a comprehensive evaluation of its strategy and capabilities” and is positioned in the Leaders Category for its enterprise asset management offering, Octave Attune EAM (formerly HxGN EAM).
Octave is expanding its presence in the EAM market by combining strong industry expertise, a wide network of partners and creative ways of engaging with customers. The Octave Attune EAM platform works in both cloud and on-premises environments and helps organizations handle work orders, track assets, manage inventory and maintain safety across large and complex operations.
Octave’s AI approach focuses on three main areas: making data more meaningful, boosting workforce productivity and using its generative AI engine, Octave Aria (formerly HxGN Alix), to provide insights throughout the asset lifecycle. Octave plans to add more advanced agentic AI capabilities throughout this year.
The IDC MarketScape notes, “Hexagon's (now Octave) partner ecosystem is extensive, with a total of 340 HxGN EAM partners, including independent software vendors (ISVs) and consulting and sales partners.”
Brian O’Rourke, IDC Research Manager, Enterprise Asset Management & Smart Facilities, commented, “Hexagon’s (now Octave) GenAI strategy is up and running, with its Alix (Octave Aria) AI-powered assistant initially deployed in 4Q24 and availability across the company’s portfolio throughout 2025. It is well-positioned to support asset-intensive industries in many global markets. Promised agentic AI support is expected in 2026.”
“To us, being positioned as a Leader in the IDC MarketScapes reflect Octave’s continued focus on helping organizations manage, maintain and optimize critical assets throughout their lifecycle,” said Joe Nichols, Vice President of Product Management – Operate, Octave. “We believe this recognition underscores our commitment to innovation, listening to customers and delivering practical AI tools that help organizations make better decisions across their operations.”
Octave is positioned as a Major Player in two other recently released EAM-focused IDC MarketScapes:
IDC MarketScape: Worldwide AI-Enabled Utilities Enterprise Asset Management Applications 2026 Vendor Assessment (#US52984926, February 2026) – the report notes that “Hexagon’s (Octave) interoperability and integration of HxGN EAM (Octave Attune EAM) with HxGN NetWorks (now Octave NetWorks) and GIS platforms enables spatially aware asset planning, outage coordination and maintenance optimization which is critical for electric, water, gas and multi-utility operators.”
IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Oil and Gas AI-Enabled Enterprise Asset Management 2026 Vendor Assessment (#US52984326, January 2026) – the report notes that “Hexagon’s (Octave) strengths stand out in the EAM market with its highly configurable workflows, robust data integration and management, extensibility through Python Studio and rich visualization tools that help organizations make faster, more informed decisions.”
* This IDC MarketScape report was published in December 2025. Octave, which includes the former Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division, is the proposed spin-off from Hexagon AB that is slated to debut in the first half of 2026. The Octave Attune EAM platform is also part of Octave.
The spin-off of Octave from Hexagon remains subject to an ongoing separation process and final approval of the board and shareholders, as well as other conditions, consents and regulatory approvals. There can be no assurances a separation, spin-off or listing will occur.
