Huntsville, Alabama, USA - The Anchorage Police Department, the primary law enforcement agency serving Alaska’s largest community, announced the official launch of its new, modernized public safety technology platform anchored by Octave OnCall.
The new system from Octave, the proposed software spinoff from Hexagon AB, includes Octave OnCall Dispatch, OnCall Records and OnCall Analytics, providing the department with a unified solution to strengthen emergency communications, streamline records workflows, enhance reporting accuracy and expand access to critical operational and investigative data.
The Anchorage Police Department serves a population of more than 285,000 residents in a 911 service area encompassing more than 100 square miles — one of the largest municipal police service areas in the United States.
The new Octave public safety platform replaces a decades‑old system for computer‑aided dispatch (CAD), records management and database entry, bringing the agency into compliance with modern standards and enabling new capabilities such as real‑time officer vehicle mapping, expanded data associations and advanced analytics tools.
“2026 is a big year for the Anchorage Police Department when it comes to technology initiatives,” said Sean Case, chief of police, Anchorage Police Department. “The Octave upgrade, along with the department’s broader technology initiatives, strengthens our ability to respond to crime, address community concerns and meet needs that have been consistently raised over the years.”
“Anchorage presents one of the most unique and challenging public safety environments in the country, and we are honored to support its police department with technology built for those demands,” said Tammy Heaton, Octave’s vice president and general manager for public safety, North America. “We look forward to our ongoing partnership as Anchorage continues advancing its public safety mission.”
