Building on a legacy of excellence
Nortera, a leading North American processer and marketer of canned and frozen vegetables, operates 13 facilities across Canada and the United States. With more than a century of agricultural and manufacturing expertise, the company manages its full value chain – from farm to table. To stay competitive and support regional economies, Nortera saw an opportunity to modernize its asset management practices, unify operations and improve overall efficiency.
Breaking down silos for a connected future
Historically, Nortera’s plants operated independently using disparate legacy systems. This fragmented approach made it difficult to standardize processes, track inventory and manage procurement consistently across sites. Institutional knowledge was siloed, making cross-facility collaboration challenging. Recognizing the need for enterprise-wide visibility and operational efficiency, the company launched an initiative centered on integration, mobility and data accessibility.
A strategic partnership for change
To support this transformation, Nortera partnered with Stratum Consulting Partners, an Octave strategic alliance partner with industry expertise and change management experience, which was acquired by Total Resource Management in March 2025. This was instrumental in guiding the implementation of a modern enterprise asset management (EAM) solution. The partnership focused on aligning technology, people and processes to enable long-term, scalable success.
Enterprise goals to streamline operations
At the heart of Nortera’s modernization strategy were three key objectives:
Unify data across facilities for greater transparency and control
Enable mobile access to real-time operational insights
Optimize inventory and procurement to reduce delays and boost productivity
Considering these objectives, the organization selected Attune EAM, a cloud-based solution to support modernization.
Implementing Attune EAM for enterprise-wide visibility
Attune EAM enabled Nortera to connect its facilities through a centralized platform that supports multiple languages, currencies and regions. Integrated with its cloud-based ecosystem, including Coupa, Attune EAM delivered mobile functionality and real-time data access – critical for efficient maintenance, procurement and inventory management.
“Thanks to Attune EAM’s support for multiple currencies and languages, our organization has successfully integrated purchasing and inventory data across multiple regions. The centralized access to storeroom information within a single application has proven invaluable, enabling us to identify equivalent spare parts at other facilities and thereby avoid significant operational downtime caused by supply chain disruptions.” John Chester Business Solutions Manager, Information Technology Nortera
Streamlined operations and empowered teams
Since the rollout of Attune EAM, the company has experienced several operational improvements:
Increased standardization and visibility across facilities
More efficient inventory and maintenance workflows
Enhanced collaboration among cross-functional teams
Empowered mobile workforce with real-time access to asset data
These improvements have been particularly valuable during high-volume production periods, enabling faster, data-driven decision-making and stronger resource planning.
“At Nortera, there is an ongoing initiative to standardize best maintenance practices supported by Attune EAM across all facilities. The current focus is on the change management to ensure all plants fully adopt the new practices. We are already starting to observe a measurable decrease in downtime and a corresponding increase in production at the facilities where these practices have been fully implemented.” Operations Team Nortera
Future ready with Attune EAM
By adopting Attune EAM and collaborating with Stratum Consulting Partners, a TRM company, Nortera has laid a solid foundation for ongoing digital evolution and modernization. This highlights how a legacy-rich organization can embrace technology and expert guidance to modernize operations, enhance resilience and lead in a competitive landscape. Looking ahead, Nortera plans to expand its use of Octave technologies to drive continued performance and innovation.
