Managing airport security and operations

Overview

The Oslo Airport utilizes Octave technology to enhance security and safety through improved situational awareness and management capabilities.

The Challenge

Due to an increasing number of passengers, Oslo Airport expanded into a new terminal, which opened in 2017. As part of this expansion, the airport upgraded its security, safety and operations.

One of the requirements Avinor, the group responsible for managing Norway’s airports, had for the upgraded security solution was the creation of a unified platform that could be managed centrally. It needed to be able to integrate with any existing or future systems and sensors, including those from third parties. This would allow it to build a best-of-breed solution to fit its specific needs. Other criteria included compliance support and real-time situational awareness and management, as well as improved adherence to defined SOPs.

The Solution

Avinor and Oslo Airport are very familiar with Octave technology. They’ve been using its video management solution to secure the airport since 2008. Upgrading and expanding with Octave Coda Orchestrator (formerly HxGN dC3 Orchestrator), Octave’s advanced incident management solution, was an informed decision. Coda Orchestrator integrates the Octave Coda Video (formerly HxGN dC3 Video) video management solution with video analytics to manage over 2,000 video channels across the airport. In addition, existing third-party systems including access control and Flexigate have also been integrated.
