Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport elevates operations with Octave Attune EAM

Modernizing asset management at a fast-growing airport

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) connects nearly three million passengers a year to destinations worldwide and runs a cargo operation with regular flights to China, Europe, Mexico and South America. It’s one of the Southeast’s fastest-growing airports — and its maintenance system wasn’t keeping up.

For over two decades, GSP relied on MP2, a reliable but outdated maintenance system. As passenger and cargo volumes grew, MP2’s lack of automation, integration and reporting capability became a real problem. FAA requirements, sustainability goals and expanding facilities all demanded more than MP2 could deliver.

GSP selected Attune EAM (formerly HxGN EAM) and partnered with Stratum Consulting Partners, a Total Resource Management company and Octave Alliance Partner, to lead the implementation. The result: a complete overhaul of how GSP manages its facilities, airfields, tenant operations and third-party spaces.

Overcoming legacy system barriers

Replacing a system that’s been in place for 20+ years is never simple. GSP’s team had to navigate several real obstacles:

  • Decades of asset data needed to migrate accurately to maintain compliance and historical accuracy.

  • The new solution had to easily connect with Sage ERP for financial processes and AeroSimple for FAA Part 139 inspections.

  • Leadership demanded measurable ROI and disciplined cost control.

  • Staff who had used MP2 for decades were concerned about usability and loss of functionality.

  • Strict RFP requirements meant the project had to meet tight deadlines with no margin for delay.

Every one of these challenges reinforced the need for a solution that could deliver rapid value without disruption.

Solution chosen

After a competitive selection process, GSP selected Attune EAM, with Stratum leading the deployment. This partnership ensured GSP had the right solution and the expertise to implement it quickly and effectively, accelerate time-to-value, and deliver benefits ahead of schedule.

Stratum brought a track record of MP2-toEAM migrations, giving GSP confidence that decades of asset data and established workflows would transfer intact. The project launched in January 2025 and went live by August 1 — ahead of schedule and under budget. Direct integrations with Sage ERP and AeroSimple meant automated work order generation, closed-loop remediation and streamlined procure-to-pay workflows from day one.

Clay Bush, CEO of Stratum Consulting Partners, highlighted the collaborative achievement:

“GSP is an organization that prides itself on having a best-in-class asset management program and a skilled in-house team and this project was an opportunity to lift GSP into a new era of digital excellence. Our collaboration has modernized how GSP manages all airport facilities, the airfield and key third-party spaces like their rental car and port facilities. Our solutions also enhance their support for tenant operations.”

Driving efficiency, accountability and future readiness

The migration represented a step-change in how GSP managed assets across its airport environment. The results include:

  • Digitized workflows, mobile access and automated inspections cut through maintenance backlogs.

  • ERP integration with Sage gave leadership clear visibility into capital expenditures.

  • With a successful go-live in under seven months, GSP realized measurable value quickly.

  • The modern cloud-based platform enables growth into IoT, analytics and future sustainability initiatives.

Kevin Howell, Executive VP of Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District, emphasized the impact:

“Upgrading our system with Stratum Consulting Partners has been a strategic investment in both operational efficiency and financial discipline. Stratum’s financial-focused approach provided critical cost containment throughout the project, ensuring we maximized value without compromising quality. This partnership not only optimized our asset management and work processes but also strengthened our ability to manage capital expenditures effectively for the long term.”

Setting a new standard for airport asset management

By completing the migration under budget, on time and without disruption, GSP has proven that organizations using MP2 can confidently modernize. With Attune EAM and a strong foundational strategy laid out by Stratum, GSP now operates with greater efficiency and financial discipline, that setting a new benchmark for regional airports worldwide.

GSP is already planning additional system enhancements to support expansion, regulatory compliance and long-term operational goals.
