The challenge
Deepwater Subsea used inadequate and time-consuming word processor documents and spreadsheets for its inspection activities. This resulted in tough efforts tracking and tracing data, lowering coordination, focus and operational productivity. It was a nightmare looking for archive information, especially when looking for when a specific inspection was completed and who did the inspection.
The use of word processor documents and spreadsheets made it difficult to ensure information consistency and the recording of critical overlapping data. From the start of the job until completion, unless the inspector sent in a copy of their report there would be no way to see the status of their work. This was also a problem because to comply as an ISO 9001 company; inspectors must use the correct revisions of documents, fill everything in correctly and ensure full traceability and transparency.
Also, the Aveva™ PI System™ was its real-time monitoring platform, Deepwater Subsea needed a solution provider with an established interface to enable greater visibility, retrievability and tracking of the human processes alongside the real-time data. With the ever-changing regulations in the Oil and Gas industry, it was also important for Deepwater Subsea to be able to create and modify its applications and documents without the need for a third party.
How Tempo Operations Management solved the challenge
Deepwater Subsea uses the Tempo Management Operations Logbook, Work Instructions, Action Management, Operator Rounds & Routine Duties (using IndustraForm templates), Standing Orders and mobile and reporting capabilities to meet its extensive requirements. The IndustraForm designer allows Deepwater Subsea to easily create and modify its documents without any assistance required.
The Tempo Operations Management Connector for the Aveva™ PI System™ allows relevant real-time data to reach inspectors as they work, which is not possible with word processor documents and spreadsheets.
The j5 Operations Logbook ensures that all work activities are entered as and when they occur during Deepwater Subsea inspections, which can then be viewed in realtime. The j5 Operations Logbook builds a comprehensive record of activities with the ability to track the events as they happen with additional j5 IndustraForm templates capturing all the important data.
j5 Action Management allows users to assign, design and track actions which are related to the processes in the j5 Operations Management Solutions applications. These actions have a standard workflow that allows Deepwater Subsea personnel to easily manage their daily actions in real-time with advanced workflow capabilities.
With j5 mobile capabilities, users can view and edit the same j5 templates available on desktop computers. Deepwater Subsea can easily customize these to suit them using the spreadsheet-like j5 IndustraForm designer application. As a result, desktop and mobile applications are now in sync in real-time, with no advance source coding required.
