A Few
Words from the Editor: "Tales from Multipod 5 in 1 users"
Octave is turning a “Few Words from the Editor” over to the users to tell you how they are using the Multipod 5 in 1.
“I learned the joy and thrill of skiing at an early age of 5. I had always looked for a way to show non-skiers how much fun it was. Finally, several decades later I can now share the thrill and excitement of a run with the non-skiers I know. I took the attached video by taping the Multipod 5 in 1 to my goggles. When my wife viewed the video she said ‘Wow, I’ve never seen it like this before.’

Collingwood, Ontario.”

"I work as a newspaper reporter. Originally I purchased the Multipod for the ‘neat’ factor. I never expected it to become an indispensable tool of my trade. I always carry a camera with me for my work; however, a camera is not always welcome at some of the things I cover. The Multipod has been great for allowing me to take discreet photos without drawing attention to myself.
Roberta,
Toronto, Ontario”
“My husband and I are avid hikers. Many of the hikes we do are steep and have significant elevation gain. One of our favorites is Fairview in Lake Louise Alberta, Canada that has 4500 FT elevation gain over 5 KMs. When hiking that high weight we carry (or my husband carries) makes a big difference. We’ve never taken a camcorder on this kind of hike before since the weight of it is the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camels back.’ We are now looking forward to doing these hikes with our Multipod in tow.

| Q: |
I’m considering attaching the Multipod to a rocket. Do you see any problems with this? |
| A: |
The wind buffeting would be the only issue we could advise you on. If the Multpod were to face back towards earth there shouldn’t be too much wind noise. You could also try warping it in a sock and cutting out a hole for the lens. The sock would also give some added protection from vibrations and shock. We are excited you are considering this. When you do launch please make sure you send us a copy of the video. We would love to see it! |
