A Few
Words from the Editor: "Living on the beach with your feet in the sand - just $39.99"
I received an e-mail today from this man assuring me of great riches if I were to only buy his $39.99 book. He claims that he lives a worry free life style. Most of his days are spent looking at all the money in his bank accounts with his feet in the sand on his beach in Hawaii. For just $39.99 he will show me how to do it. Well, call me a skeptic, but I will keep my $39.99 out of his bank balance.
The reason I bring this up is it high lighted to me how sales can be an honorable profession adding real value to the purchase cycle or it can be slimy, underhanded and leaving the customer with buyers remorse.
At Octave we have talented sales professionals, some of whom could sell a refrigerator to a person living in the Artic. This sales person was telling me about a sale he just made. The customer was on the fence between two products. One was priced at $2,195 and the other at $4,095. The sales person guided the customer into buying the unit priced at $2,195. I asked him why he did not sell the higher priced unit. The sales person remarked the customer did not need the higher priced unit and we do not want the customer discovering in the future that we miss guided him. We would like his repeat business.

"101
uses for a duplicator"
The president of the Octave challenged me to come up with 101 uses for
a Copy Master. In December I published the first 10. Here is the next 10.
31 - High Definition images can be burned to a CD. These images can then be played on a Plasma TV to form wall art.
32 - A B&B guide can be burned onto a CD. This will greatly reduce the cost of publishing.
33 - E commerce sites can print their website to PDF and then burn this to disc. These discs can then be sent as product catalogues.
34 - Conference centers can place sales material onto a CD. This would enable a high impact message to be delivered and save on printing cost.
35 - Large newsletters can be sent out on CD or DVD.
36 - Museums can archive scanned or illustrated images of artifacts.
37 - Art galleries can create a disc full of the art on display. The discs can then be sold.
38 - Video Christmas letters can be sent to friends and family on CD.
39 - A video of a house walk through can be placed on to CD then stored in a safe. The disc will be handy to have in case of fire. Will help prove to the insurance company you in fact did have a 60 inch Plasma TV.
40 - Student manuals can be placed onto disc. Within the manual videos and other multi-media can be stored.
Next month
I will add another 10.
