A Few Words from the Editor: "The product you didn’t know
you need"
Octave
introduced Digital Photo Archiving (DPA) last week. DPA is an exciting
hot new product used to back-up Digital Photo’s from digital camera
memory cards to CD. All memory card formats are supported, even the Sony
memory stick (Compact Flash™, Micro Drive™, Smart Media™,
Memory Stick™, Secure Digital™, and MultiMedia™ Cards).
The DPA is
a stand-alone device requiring only two AA batteries to run. DPA is the
answer to digital photographers needing to empty a full memory card without
access to a PC. Consider the photographer is shooting in a remote location
(a cruise, a 3 day hike, a sailing trip…) and fills up the photo
memory card with digital pictures. The DPA would allow the photographer
to save the digital pictures to a CD with the push of a button. Once the
photo memory card is filled again the same CD can be used to store the
next set.
A DPA will
make a great Christmas gift. To avoid disappointment order yours today.

Question & Answer Forum:
| Q: |
Is
there anyway I can upgrade the software inside the DVD+R/RW Copy Master
1? I would like to incorporate Ahead Nero software. |
| A: |
The
Copy Master controller is an ASIC device dedicated to the task of
duplicating DVDs or CDs. It has its own proprietary firmware that
cannot be changed by the end user other than to update it if required.
The firmware is not an operating system like Windows.
Nero
Burning Rom software operates under Windows Operating Systems that
only run on PCs.

| Q: |
I
am looking for a CD recorder with which I can record from records
and/or tape cassettes. Do you have the equipment needed for this?
|
| A: |
We
have just the product you need to record not only from records or
tapes but just about any audio source. It is the Copy Writer Live. |

| Q: |
How
many CDs can a CD recorder produce? |
| A: |
Your
question has a wide variety of answers! Typically a CD recorder
has a Mean Time Between Failure of 50,000 hours with a 25% duty
cycle. This means it can record for 12,500 hours. Now if you are
recording one hour long CDs you could make 12,500 before the drive
may fail. If you are recording 30 minute CDs then it would make
25,000 copies before you might expect it to fail. Of course these
are only average figures. |
