A Few Words from the Editor: "Sermons on CD"
Churches are moving into the 21st century in a hurry. One of the most common inquires we get is: "How do I record the sermon onto CD and sell it to our parishioners before they leave?"
Generally the church will have experience doing this with tape and know approximately how many they will sell. I had a call for this very thing no less than 30 mins ago. This church needed 60-100 CDs produced in an hour. The mastering process will be accomplished by feeding the live audio stream into a PC. Once the sermon is complete a technician will be able to save the file and burn it to a CD. This CD will become the master CD. Better yet the master can be recorded live using the a Microboards Copy Write Live see *discontinued*
The master CD will now be taken to two CD Copy Master Pro 48X 7 drive copy masters to perform the duplication. Since there is only one master a run will have to be performed on one tower first. A duplicated CD from the first tower will become the master for the second tower.
The labeling/printing of the CD will done the day before. In the case of this church they are using a CD Stomper to apply labels.

Question & Answer Forum:
| Q: |
On the CD Copy Master how do you get the CD Images off of the hard drive on to a printer? |
| A: |
The CD (or DVD) images stored on the hard drive of the Copy Master are the actual contents of the CD (or DVD). They are not the artwork for the labeling of the CD (or DVD). The CD (or DVD) image allows copies to made directly from the hard drive instead of a master disc.

| Q: |
How quickly will the DVD Copy Master duplicate a 4 hour long movie? Is it 1 hour since it records at 4X? |
| A: |
The playing time of the movie has little to do with the recording time of the duplicator. What matters is the file size. On a 4.5 GB DVD the movie could be 1 hour long or 5 hours long. Of course the 5 hour long movie will have been compressed, not full screen, and probably full of compression artifacts. The time to record each disc (either the 1 hour long movie or the 5 hour long movie) will be the same.

What is the difference between ink jet printing and thermal printing? Why do you have the Microboards Fully Automated Print Factory listed under Ink when in the description is says "HP Thermal Inkjet"?
|
| A: |
Ink jet is akin to desktop ink jet printers available at every office store. The printer will spray ink onto the surface of the disc. The printer will require ink jet printable media. Generally the Ink Jet will offer the best print resolution.
Thermal printers use heat (hence thermal) to transfer resin from the ribbon onto the disc.
The Microboards Fully Automated Print Factory is using ink, but heats the ink up after it is applied to decrease drying times. It is an ink jet printer.

| Q: |
What is the best printer I can get? |
| A: |
If budget is not a consideration the Rimage Everest II Autoprinter is your best bet. It offers the highest resolution at better than magazine quality, durable print job that will not smudge and is scratch resistant, and with high volume has a lower cost per disk than ink.

If you have a spending cap of around $1500 then two good options are the Signature Printer IV or Bravo Autoloader. Both are ink, but the Bravo is an autoloader. Please see:
