A Few Words from the Editor: "Three towers v. one tower - which is the better buy?"
Yesterday a customer wanted to purchase a 16 drive MediaForm for nearly $10,000. When we asked him "Why?" he said he wanted to increase his throughput.

We pointed out he could buy three 7 drive CD Copy Master for a total of 21 drives - all for under $6,000.00. If one tower failed 14 other drives would still be in operation. With the 16 Drive MediaForm if one drive fails all drives fail and 16 disc may be spoiled. Also three 7 drive CD Copy Masters would allow for thee different jobs to be run at one time.

He agreed with us and bought three 7 drive CD Copy Masters.

CD Copy Master Update: "24X Still going strong and new drives"
It is the annual switch over time again. The current drives being produced, which are solid and reliable, are going to be replaced with newer, faster versions.

As usual we predict a one/two month period with the current drives being unavailable and the new ones not yet shipped and certainly not proven! As usual new faster drives will become available before new faster media. Interesting dilemma!

Our CD Copy Master customers have proven the 24X drives still hold value. 50% of the units we ship are 24X. The 40X has now been available for a year!

UPDATE: The Copy Master is 52X or higher.

Question & Answer Forum:

Q: If I was to purchase a Karaoke CD Copy Master 40/1 can I download Karaoke from the internet and then copy them to a CD? If so would I need anything else special?
A:

The CD Copy Master is a duplicating machine and cannot be connected to a PC or other computer. If you downloaded Karaoke files onto your PC you would have to burn them on a CD recorder installed in your PC. You could then make duplicates of that with the Copy Master

Q: I have an HP 8100i burner and I want to be able to copy Karaoke disks for my backup archives. I have tried several different programs, but have had no luck with the graphics portion of the karaoke discs. I can't even view these files on my regular CD-ROM. Any suggestions?
A:

You need a CD+G (karaoke) capable CD-Rom AND a CD+G capable CD-R/RW recorder along with software that is CD+G capable. The majority of CD-Roms and CD-R/CDRWs are not CD+G compatible

The Plextor drive we use in our Karaoke Copy master is of course compatible.

Q:

There are Silver, Green, & Blue colored - CD-R Media.

What is the meaning of the colors?

A:

The colors are just the different dyes that are used in the manufacturing process. It is a chemical and either cyanine pr phthalocyanine. The dye is what is burned with 'bits' (ones and zeroes) of information by the laser of a CD recorder.
